The Honeymoon Phase

...the time where everything seems perfect.

No arguments, no disputes, no issues.

This phase is most commonly used when discussing relationships, but can be used when referring to a new job, new team, or any other setting where people from differing backgrounds come together as one.

Typically, the honeymoon phase is viewed as an unavoidable step, with the power to make or break any relationship.

Since we hear so much about this phase, it can become a daunting task to enjoy the simple joys of life as we are shadowed by the constant question of "well...what if this is just the honeymoon phase?"

If you think hard enough about this phase, it may come true, which probably was not your original intentions at all. Your thoughts become actions.

What happens when rather than overthinking and worrying, we remain encouraged by the new opportunity and look forward to ways we can harvest a longer lasting phase?  How can we avoid this seemingly unavoidable period of time?

If all parties are being as forthcoming as possible, theoretically there will be no surprises.

If you are honest about yourself, and honest about what you would want in a partner, job or teammate, there will not be a Honeymoon Phase...it will simply be a mutually peaceful and understood situation that is constantly growing.

Usually the Honeymoon Phase is determined once you realize that during the 'Getting To Know You' phase not all parties were being entirely true to themselves or the parties around them.  This is when a sudden dose of reality is introduced to what appeared to be a perfect situation.  It is typically when the phase is over that we recognize that we were in it in the first place.

There will always be good times and bad times in every avenue of life, no matter how hard you try to avoid them.  Facing them earlier in any situation will provide insight and clarity that could potentially render the Honeymoon Phase as simply a joke you laugh about and never take too seriously.

There should always be a sense of reality in every phase of life that we are in.  Rather than excusing them as uncontrollable phases that are inevitable, take a moment to understand them while you are in them and recognize the methods necessary to uphold the standards you always wanted in the first place.

Life is what we make it.  Take control and enjoy every minute.

Until next time,
Long Live The People
