The Ugly Truth

An apple a day keeps the doctor away is what they told me.  Although I have never actually asked a doctor how true this statement is, I have always assumed that it was...

Contrary to what some may believe, I don't think anyone has ever heard that "a chicken nugget a day..." or "some pizza each day..." could serve as an effective doctor-repellent.

Furthermore, sometimes I risk having to go to the doctor's office more frequently if it includes chicken nuggets, pizza, or just about anything with BBQ sauce on it.  I like to live on the edge.

The fact of the matter is that we generally know what is good for us in the long term, but can also fall into the trap of choosing what serves us in the 'right now'.

It is no secret that microwave dinners are 'prepared' at a quicker rate than the comparable homemade meal, and can save a significant amount of time...

That being said, there is something about the picture on the box, the size of the actual portions, and the feeling after eating that TV dinner that loosely satisfies any hungry man.

There will always be fast food, and it won't ever be as fulfilling as homemade food.  There's a certain level of drowsiness that I would like to experience after eating a hearty meal.  If that is not achieved, or if it is substituted by a riot within my stomach, I know that I probably didn't think that particular choice of food through properly...and will pay for it later on.

Naturally, there's a convenience factor attached to the nuggets, pizzas, and TV dinners of the world, and I'd be lying if I said I didn't indulge from time to time...but it should be noted that the long term effects of favoring these options is not ideal.

Yes, I am waiting for the tides to shift, and for the cheese pizza diet to launch, but in the mean time, it's probably best that I accept the nature of the truth...

Even with the beautiful lie that we may tell ourselves regarding food, and life as well...sometimes, the ugly truth is the only way to truly sustain good health and pizza mind.

Piece of mind...I couldn't resist that pun.  Forgive me.

Until next time,
Long Live The People
